St Katharine Docks
£120.00 – £128.00
This lino cut features the bridges, looking down St Katharine Docks towards Tower Bridge. The Dock is now a marina and a popular tourist destination but my print is an impression of the working dock it once was.
The docks were officially opened on 25 October 1828 but although they were busy, they were not a great commercial success because they could not accommodate large ships. The St Katharine Docks were badly damamaged by bombing during WWII. All the warehouses around the eastern basin were destroyed, and the site they had occupied remained derelict until the 1990
